THE NEW YORK STATE CANAL CORPORATION (“CANALS” OR “NYSCC”), A SUBSIDIARY OF THE NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY (HEREINAFTER “AUTHORITY” OR “NYPA”) INVITES QUALIFIED BIDDERS TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO UPGRADE 8 MOVABLE DAMS IN THE CANALS FONDA SECTION IN SCHENECTADY AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES.

THE FOLLOWING IS A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK TO BE DONE.
Summary : Upgrade the generator setup at each site to achieve 2 goals:
• Improve the reliability of the power available for operation of the movable dam during normal and adverse conditions
• Bring the electrical backup system to compliance with the National Electrical Code
Tasks :
• Modify the generator wheelbase for pad mounting at 7 sites
• Construct a concrete generator pad at 5 sites
• Replace the existing generator with a NYSCC-furnished unit at 3 sites
• Fabricate a lift platform to raise the generator at 2 sites
• Provide bollards and/or fencing to protect the generators at 7 sites
• Furnish and install manual transfer switches at each site to allow the following:

AUTHORITY'S WEB SITE AT WWW.NYPA.GOV DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK.
INCOMPLETE PROPOSAL RESPONSES MAY BE REJECTED.
FURTHER DETAILS ON QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS CAN BE FOUND IN THE BID DOCUMENTS VIA NYPA’S ARIBA PLATFORM. THIS CONTRACT MAY BE FULFILLED BY A SUB-CONTRACT, JOINT VENTURE OR CO-PRODUCTION ARRANGEMENT.

The work includes modifying the generator wheelbase for pad mounting at 7 sites, constructing a concrete generator pad at 5 sites, replacing the existing generator with a NYSCC-furnished unit at 3 sites, fabricating a lift platform to raise the generator at 2 sites, providing bollards and/or fencing to protect the generators at 7 sites, furnishing and installing manual transfer switches at each site to allow connection of a roll-up generator or roll-up DC rectifier, providing electrical wiring and conduits as shown on the contract plans, electrical commissioning and testing, removals and demolition, restoration of disturbed surfaces, coordination with Canal Maintenance & Operations forces, and miscellaneous work shown on the contract plans.
