The Contractor shall furnish five fully-operated multi-axle trucks equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) with monitoring software subscription, 12.0-foot snowplows, and 10.0 cubic yard material spreaders for spreading salt, sand or mixtures. The Contractor shall also provide one supervisor vehicle with GPS, roadway surface temperature monitoring system, and tablet/iPad with internet access. All equipment must meet NCDOT specifications and be operated by properly trained, licensed personnel available 24 hours per day during storm events with a maximum 12-hour shift per operator. Operators must possess valid driver's licenses of proper class. The Contractor is responsible for all equipment maintenance, fuel, oils, blades, tire chains, repairs, and communication equipment. NCDOT provides all deicing chemical materials and abrasives. The Contractor must respond to mobilization notifications within 3 hours and maintain equipment in good operating condition subject to NCDOT inspection. Payment is made on an hourly basis for actual productive equipment operation, with additional payments for training sessions and dry runs. The contract runs for an initial 12-month term with optional extension for up to four additional one-year periods, during which the Equipment Operating Rate is adjusted annually by the Consumer Price Index.
