The awarded Counseling Agency must provide a minimum of eight (8) hours of homebuyer counseling services and a minimum of four (4) hours of financial counseling services to Miami-Dade County residents who are referred by and enrolled in Miami-Dade County’s Homeownership Assistance Programs. Services must include topics such as types of financing, fair housing practices, credit counseling, budget and money management, selecting a neighborhood, how to locate a home, negotiating a purchase price, home maintenance, and the advantages of purchasing a home in de-concentrated areas. The agency must be HUD-certified and all counselors must be HUD-certified. Payment is per household based on services rendered, with a maximum of $500 per household.
