The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program provides federal funds to states, U.S. territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local governments. The goal is to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in participating communities. FMA funds a variety of flood mitigation activities to lower flood risk to policyholders and reduce the NFIP’s financial exposure.
