The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is issuing an RFI as a means of conducting market research to obtain information from companies with the capability to provide galvanized steel substation structures and lattice towers. There are multiple WAPA sites eligible for delivery of these steel structures located throughout the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. Delivery points for the steel structures will be in surface storage areas adjacent to all-weather roads. Engineering and drafting services are required for design and shop drawings. Skilled labor is required for welding, fabrication, and galvanizing. Individual delivery orders vary from single lattice tower pieces, substation equipment supports, platforms, multiple complex substation structures, and complete microwave towers. The contractor shall be able to cut, bend, fit up, and weld steel plates, shapes, tubes, and bars. Fabricators must be able to operate and maintain heavy duty equipment including a press break, drilling machinery, plasma cutting table, seam welding, and have the ability to galvanize large components (approximately 5 ft x 5 ft x 35 ft). Most Arizona work asks for the two below, and the solicitation documents are where it’s stated. One prequalification covers both — on this bid and the next.
A surety’s written statement that it expects to bond you up to a stated amount, subject to final underwriting. It’s what a GC or agency asks to see before they take your bid seriously.
