The grant funds the acquisition of land in fee simple, a Conservation Restriction, or a Watershed Preservation Restriction in DEP-approved drinking water supply protection areas or estimated protection areas for future wells or reservoirs. Projects must contribute to water supply protection, and the property must be currently unprotected and not already owned by the applicant. Allowable uses include watershed protection, passive recreation, limited sustainable forestry, and agriculture compatible with water supply protection.
