The Lessee shall provide all necessary labor, machinery, tools, seed, fertilizer, equipment and insurance to conduct a farming operation on approximately 567 acres of State-owned land at Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area in Cass County, Illinois. The Lessee must follow the cropping plan in Attachment B, which specifies crop rotations including corn, soybeans, wheat, and cover crops on designated fields. The Lessee is responsible for controlling weeds and pests, maintaining field borders and firebreaks, and documenting all chemical, fertilizer, and seed applications. The Lessee must comply with restrictions on neonicotinoid-treated soybean seed, Dicamba, and bio-solids, and must obtain prior approval for insecticide, herbicide, or fungicide use. The Lessee must perform soil testing in the fall of the second lease year and on landlocked leases in the first and fourth years. The Lessee must pay all leasehold taxes and provide proof of payment by December 15th annually. The Lessee must maintain liability insurance and provide a certificate naming the State as an additional insured. The lease term is from March 1, 2027 to February 28, 2032, with no renewal option.
