SPECTRA will identify and act on autism trajectories, the evolving developmental paths individuals follow across the lifespan from the prenatal period through aging, spanning autism characteristics, co-occurring conditions, and functional outcomes together with the genetic, biological, behavioral, iatrogenic (medical influences), environmental factors and their nonlinear interactions. Rather than examining these factors in isolation, SPECTRA will examine how they combine and interact, including their nonlinear interactions, to produce autism and its co-occurring conditions over time.
SPECTRA will also develop technologies that serve two purposes at once: extending reliable assessment beyond the clinic while improving everyday communication, function, and quality of life. The same tools people use to live more fully will also generate the data that drive measurement and personalized care.
SPECTRA will pursue four Technical Areas (TAs) of research and development. TA1, Multi-Factor Analysis and Trajectory Identification, uses deep phenotyping to identify, measure, and model how contributing factors combine to define trajectories. TA2, Population-Scale Modeling and Data Integration, builds durable, secure national infrastructure that integrates and characterizes data across populations. TA3, Precision Intervention and Trajectory Testing, tests in rigorous trials whether acting on these trajectories changes outcomes. TA4, Technologies for Communication, Quality of Life, and Embedded Assessment, develops tools such as wearables, communication and speech interfaces, eye tracking, low-channel EEG, and camera-based movement analysis that improve everyday communication and function while generating real-world measurements.

A surety’s written statement that it expects to bond you up to a stated amount, subject to final underwriting. It’s what an agency asks to see before they take your bid seriously.
