This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.
Solicitation number 1232SA26Q1430 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for DNA Sequencing for the Physiology and Pathology of Tree Fruits Research Center.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to award on a single source basis.
Potential sources who believe they can provide the services listed are invited to submit a quotation by the response date listed, in accordance with the instructions provided herein. All timely responses to this solicitation will be considered, however, the determination by the Government to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government.
This acquisition is not set-aside for small business concerns. The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code is 541380 – Testing Laboratories and Services. The small business size standard is $19 million. This acquisition is an unrestricted requirement. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency.
The contractor shall provide short-read sequencing (Illumina 2x300bp) requiring 20,000 reads per sample for 108 samples annually using primer sets 515F/806R (16S) and ITS1fBt/ITS4rBt (ITS), and long-read sequencing (PacBio sequel) requiring 30-50,000 reads per sample for 56 samples annually using primer set V1-V9 (16S). Taxonomic classification must be assigned against updated reference databases (e.g., Greengenes2, NCBI, UNITE). The contractor shall provide sequence data (raw and processed) within 60 calendar days from receipt of DNA samples, and data shall be made available for download via BaseSpace or Dropbox and remain available online for at least 4 months.
