The contractor shall provide onsite Perfusion/Autotransfusion Services at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. The contractor must provide five key personnel: four Board Certified Perfusionists and one Certified Autotransfusionist. Perfusionists are responsible for preparation and operation of heart and lung machines/pumps, auto transfusion pumps, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and centrifugal ventricular assist devices. The Autotransfusionist is responsible for setting up and operating the autotransfusion pump for surgical procedures other than open heart, coordinating preventative maintenance, and maintaining records. Services include support for open heart surgery, autotransfusion, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping, and centrifugal ventricular assist device. One perfusionist must be on site during all regular business hours, with up to three on site as needed, and one perfusionist must be on call 24/7 within 30 minutes of the facility.
