NSF seeks innovative, early stage platform technologies that advance intelligent, adaptive, and scalable AI systems operating in or interfacing with the physical world, including robotics, embodied systems, human robot interfaces, advanced sensing, and cyber physical systems. NSF anticipates making one or more Other Transaction (OT) awards under 42 U.S.C. § 19116. The program will support full-time R&D teams focused on use-inspired scientific breakthroughs and foundational platform technologies. NSF X-Labs teams will target early-stage platform technologies that enable breakthroughs to accelerate entirely new forms of AI integration in physical systems including advanced sensors, robotics, embodied systems, human-robot interfaces, or cyber-physical systems.
