The contractor will assess rivercane's contribution to streambank stability, persistence through historical high-water events, and potential as a restoration tool. Tasks include field/vegetation data collection, site characterization and restoration suitability assessment, and drafting reports on ideal restoration site analysis. The contractor will examine impacts at locations with and without rivercane along geomorphically similar stream reaches in Helene-impacted watersheds of Western North Carolina, using existing remote-sensed data and field verification. Deliverables include bi-weekly or monthly virtual meetings, project methods, field data collection, draft and final reports on restoration site suitability and vegetative impacts, and final reporting and publication drafts.
