Wisconsin requires a boxing or mixed martial arts promoter (and club) to post a bond of not less than $10,000 under Wis. Stat. 444.035 when applying to the Department of Safety and Professional Services. Ours is $300 flat — 3% of the bond amount — and the application is five minutes.

Promoter license bonds are about as simple as surety gets. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials and no credit check section on this bond.
Small fixed-amount license bonds like this often issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your boxing or MMA promoter license application. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$10,000 bond × 3% = $300, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
Wisconsin regulates professional boxing and mixed martial arts through the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Under Wis. Stat. 444.035, a promoter or club must post a bond of not less than $10,000 with its license application to secure payment of the expenses of an event.
The bond protects the people owed money when an event happens — in the order the statute sets, the department, then the contestants (the fighters), then the officials. If a promoter fails to pay those obligations, they can recover against the bond.
It is not insurance for you. If the surety pays a valid claim, you repay the surety. Promoters who pay their fighters and officials treat the bond as a license formality — we track it and notify you ahead of expiration so your DSPS license never lapses over a missed renewal.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
