The bond stands behind the county roads and bridges on your route — if your haul damages county infrastructure, Orange County can recover its repair costs against the bond rather than absorbing them. The amount the county sets reflects the size of the load and the exposure along the route.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and Orange County (the obligee). If the county pays a claim against the bond, you repay the surety. We issue the amount the county requires at 1% of the bond amount, with a $100 minimum.
