The City of Amarillo requires a $20,000 bond to register as an insulation contractor through the Department of Building Safety. The price is $100 flat — the same for every applicant. The bond issues the moment you pay — no credit check.

Registration bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That is the application. No credit check.
Registration bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase.
Your executed bond arrives by email, ready to file with your City of Amarillo contractor registration ($51 city fee, plus proof of liability insurance). Wet-ink original mailed on request.
The City of Amarillo registers contractors through its Department of Building Safety and conditions an insulation contractor registration on a $20,000 surety bond. The bond is a property-owner-protection and code-compliance guarantee: it holds the contractor accountable for work that meets the city's building code and the terms of registration.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Amarillo (the obligee), with the city and harmed property owners as the protected parties. If a contractor leaves non-compliant work or violates the registration terms, the city or a harmed owner can file a claim against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The bond must stay active while your registration is current, so we track it and send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.
A claim comes from the party the bond protects, the obligee named on the form, when the duty the bond guarantees is not met.
The surety investigates and pays a valid claim, up to the $20,000 bond amount. You then repay the surety: a surety bond is a guarantee of your performance, not insurance for you.
The premium covers a one-year term from the effective date you choose; a longer term is the same price per year, chosen at checkout.
Renew before the expiry date to keep the bond in force: the license, permit or contract it backs expects continuous coverage.
