The Village of Cuyahoga Heights Building Department requires every contractor doing residential or commercial work in the village to register annually and carry a $20,000 surety bond on file. The village sets the bond amount; our rate is 0.5% of the bond amount, $100 minimum, and the application collects no credit information.

No underwriting queue for the standard village contractor bond — apply, pay, and file with the Building Department alongside your registration paperwork. Here is the whole thing:
Your business details and an effective date — the bond amount is already set at $20,000, so there is nothing to size.
The application collects no credit information, so most contractor bonds like this issue the moment you pay.
Submit the executed bond alongside your Contractor Registration Application, $100 registration fee, R.I.T.A. tax form, and proof of liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
The Village of Cuyahoga Heights requires every contractor — residential or commercial, and regardless of trade — to register annually with the Building Department and file a $20,000 surety bond before doing work in the village. The village’s registration packet groups trades into Electrical, Gas Piping, HVAC, Hydronics, Fire Safety, Plumbing, and Refrigeration — each requiring a copy of the matching State of Ohio license — plus a catch-all General category for every other trade: general contractors, roofers, excavators, septic installers, concrete and paving crews, tree trimming and removal, painters, and siding and window installers.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Village of Cuyahoga Heights (the obligee), with the village and harmed property owners as the protected parties. If a contractor fails to complete a project or otherwise breaches the village’s registration terms, the bond backs the compensation needed to finish the job.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. If you hold more than one trade registration, the village’s packet notes that one $20,000 bond covers every registration you apply for; the village separately requires a Contractor Registration Application, a R.I.T.A. business tax form, $100,000–$300,000 in liability insurance with $50,000 in property damage coverage naming the village as additional insured, proof of workers’ compensation insurance, and a $100 annual registration fee. Registrations run the calendar year, January 1 through December 31, and renew annually.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit section, because this application doesn’t collect credit information.
