The Borough of Oakland requires a fixed $20,000 bond to license a septic system installer. Ours is $600 flat — 3% of the bond amount. The application is five minutes, and license bonds like this are the fastest thing we issue.

License bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit check section, no follow-up scavenger hunt.
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your Borough of Oakland septic installer's license. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$20,000 bond × 3% = $600, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
A septic installer's license bond is a workmanship and compliance guarantee to the Borough of Oakland. Installers who build and repair septic (subsurface sewage disposal) systems are licensed by the Borough, which conditions the license on the bond so it has a backstop that you will install to code, follow the Borough’s health and construction rules, and correct defective work.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Borough of Oakland (the obligee), with the property owners and public health protected. If you install a system that fails to meet code or violate the Borough’s septic ordinance, a harmed party or the Borough can recover against the bond.
The bond must stay active for the life of your license. Let it lapse and the Borough can suspend the license — so we track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out, keeping your $20,000 filing continuous.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
