Providers approved to install ignition interlock devices for New Jersey DWI offenders must carry a $10,000 bond backing their installation and service work. Ours is $300 flat — 3% of the bond amount, the same for every installer — and there is no credit check on this bond.

License bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit check section.
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with the agency or program administering your interlock-installer approval. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$10,000 bond × 3% = $300, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
New Jersey requires many DWI offenders to drive only vehicles fitted with an ignition interlock device — a breath-alcohol interlock that prevents the car from starting if alcohol is detected — under N.J.S.A. 39:4-50.17. Only approved service providers may install and calibrate these devices, and the installer bond backs that work.
The bond is a performance-and-compliance guarantee. It stands behind the installer's obligation to install, service, and report on devices according to the program's rules, so the courts and the Motor Vehicle Commission can rely on accurate interlock compliance. If an installer's misconduct causes a loss, the harmed party can recover against the bond.
The bond must stay active while you hold the installer approval. It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. We track the bond and notify you 60 and 30 days before expiration so your approval never lapses over a missed renewal.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
