What the bond actually guarantees
A contractor license bond is a compliance guarantee. The City of Arnold registers contractors and conditions the license on a $5,000 bond that you'll follow the city's building codes and contractor ordinances.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Arnold (the obligee). If you violate the city's contractor ordinance and the city or a harmed party suffers loss, they can recover against the bond.
