Flat 3%. Enter your amount.

The bond a Mississippi auto service or repair shop posts when a service-contract program, lender, or local jurisdiction asks for a surety guarantee. What the service auto shop bond actually covers

Unlike a state license bond, a Mississippi service auto shop bond is generally not a single statewide mandate — there is no one statute that requires every repair or service shop in the state to post a surety bond. We will not imply one that does not exist.

In practice, an auto service shop is asked for a bond by an obligee with a specific interest: a vehicle service-contract or warranty program enrolling the shop as a participating facility, a lender or floor-plan provider, a manufacturer or fleet program, or a city or county that conditions a business privilege on a bond. The bond protects that obligee against losses if the shop fails to perform the work or honor the terms it agreed to.

Because there is no statutory figure, the amount is whatever your program or jurisdiction names. Enter that figure and we issue the bond at a flat 3% with no credit check — same honest pricing as every bond we write. If the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety; it is not insurance for the shop.

No single statewide mandate — obligee-set requirementMississippi does not impose a single statewide surety-bond requirement on all auto service or repair shops. A “service auto shop” bond is typically required by a specific obligee — a vehicle service-contract or warranty program, a lender, a manufacturer or fleet program, or a local jurisdiction — which sets both the obligee and the amount. (Vehicle service contracts themselves are regulated separately under Miss. Code Title 83, Chapter 65, which generally relies on reimbursement insurance rather than a shop bond.) Confirm the amount and obligee with whoever is requiring the bond.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

Does Mississippi require every auto service shop to be bonded? +
No — there is no single statewide statute that bonds all auto service or repair shops. This bond is typically required by a specific obligee: a service-contract or warranty program, a lender or fleet program, or a local jurisdiction. We will not imply a state mandate that does not exist.
How much is it? +
A flat 3% of the bond amount, with a $275 minimum. Because there is no statutory amount, you enter whatever figure your program, lender, or jurisdiction asked for and the quote updates.
Is there a credit check? +
No — this bond is issued with no credit pull. Larger bond amounts may get a quick soft-pull review, which never affects your credit score.
What does the bond protect against? +
It protects whoever required it against losses if the shop fails to perform the work or honor the terms it agreed to. If the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety — it is not insurance for the shop.
What amount should I choose if I’m not sure? +
Ask whoever is requiring the bond for the exact figure — there is no statewide default. Send us the request or the bond form and we will confirm the amount and obligee before issuing.
