Calvert County requires anyone in the business of installing individual (on-site) sewage disposal systems to post a $10,000 performance bond with the Calvert County Board of Health. Ours is $300 flat — 3% of the bond amount — with no credit check.

The Health Department is waiting on this bond before it licenses you to install systems. Here's the whole process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials and no credit check section.
Local license bonds like this issue right after purchase in most cases. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to post with the Board of Health for your installer license. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$10,000 bond × 3% = $300, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
Calvert County licenses on-site sewage disposal (septic) installers through the Calvert County Health Department, and conditions the license on a $10,000 performance bond posted with the Board of Health. Anyone in the business of installing individual sewage disposal systems must hold the license and the bond.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Calvert County Board of Health (the obligee), with property owners as the protected parties. If an installer's work is defective, negligent, or fails to meet the county and COMAR regulations, the harmed owner or the county can file a claim against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Installers who build systems to the approved design and the county regulations treat the bond as a license formality.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
