About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the provider bond actually covers

A home service contract — often called a home warranty — promises to repair or replace covered systems and appliances for a fee. Louisiana regulates the providers who sell these contracts, and conditions a provider’s registration on a surety bond standing behind that promise.

The bond is filed with the Secretary of State on the uniform form issued by the Department of Insurance, and holds the provider and surety responsible for well and faithfully discharging the provider’s duties under Titles 22 and 23 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes. The standard penal sum is $50,000.

If a provider fails to honor its service contracts and a consumer is harmed, the bond stands behind them up to its amount. It is not insurance for the provider — if the surety pays a claim, the provider repays the surety. Enter the figure your filing requires and we issue at a flat 3% with no credit check.
