Entergy Gulf States, Inc. was the name of the investor-owned electric utility serving southwest and south Louisiana — the Lake Charles and Baton Rouge areas — before it was renamed Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, LLC and later merged into Entergy Louisiana, LLC in 2015. If your account or deposit notice still shows the Entergy Gulf States name, this bond secures it in place of a cash deposit — 2% of the bond amount, $100 minimum, and the application collects no credit information.

No long underwriting queue for a utility deposit bond — enter your amount, pay, and deliver the executed bond to Entergy. Here is the whole thing:
Your account number, the service address, the deposit amount on your Entergy Gulf States notice, and the effective date — the application collects no credit information.
Most utility deposit bonds clear quickly; pricing is 2% of the bond amount, $100 minimum. Larger deposits may get a brief review.
Submit the executed bond, with your account number listed and matching exactly, to satisfy the deposit and activate or keep your electric service.
Entergy Gulf States, Inc. — originally Gulf States Utilities, acquired by Entergy in 1994 — served electric customers across southwest and south Louisiana as well as southeast Texas. In 2007–2008 the company split by state: the Louisiana operations were renamed Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, LLC, and the Texas operations became Entergy Texas, Inc. Entergy Gulf States Louisiana later merged into Entergy Louisiana, LLC in 2015, but some existing accounts, deposit notices, and older billing records still reference the Entergy Gulf States name.
Like most regulated Louisiana utilities, the company can require a security deposit on a new account without an established payment history, or on an account that previously went unpaid. A surety bond is one accepted alternative to leaving that money in cash. You (the principal) post the bond, the surety stands behind it, and Entergy is the obligee.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays Entergy on an unpaid account, you repay the surety. The bond form must list your account number, and the name on the account and the bond must match exactly. If your current bill instead reads "Entergy Louisiana," use our Entergy Louisiana deposit bond page instead.
Submit the application with your Entergy deposit notice amount. The application collects no credit information, and most clear quickly.
