What the contractor license bond actually guarantees
The Village of Posen requires every contractor and trade — plumbers, electricians, general contractors, and others — to be licensed by the Village for the protection of residents, even when the tradesperson is separately licensed by the State of Illinois. The Building Department conditions issuance of that Village license on a surety bond.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Village of Posen (the obligee), with Posen residents and the Village as the protected parties. If licensed work is performed improperly or a Village code violation causes loss, a claim can be made against the bond.
