Cicero's Building Department requires a contractor placing scaffolding to file a bond sized to the type of scaffolding: $10,000 if the scaffolding rests on the ground, and a separate $50,000 bond if the scaffolding hangs or is suspended. The bond is written to the specific job site — the address where the scaffolding will stand is preprinted on the form.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Town of Cicero (the obligee), with the Town and the public as the protected parties. The bond stands behind the contractor's compliance with the Town's safety codes and permit conditions, and behind repair of any damage the scaffolding causes, up to the $10,000 penal sum.
