What the bond actually guarantees
The Town of Cicero licenses contractors performing work inside town limits through its Business License Department, and conditions a contractor license on a $10,000 surety bond filed with the Town. Cicero’s licensing runs on a fixed cycle — Cicero contractor licenses and bonds carried in our system renew on June 30 of the applicable year, not on a rolling anniversary date.
It’s a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Town of Cicero (the obligee). The bond guarantees a licensed contractor performs work in compliance with town code and license terms, so Cicero isn’t left absorbing the cost of a job left unfinished or performed out of code.
