About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the combative sports bond actually covers

Idaho regulates boxing, mixed martial arts, and other combative sports through the State Athletic Commission under Title 54, Chapter 4. A promoter who applies for a sanctioning permit must furnish a surety bond or other form of financial security to the Commission.

The bond's purpose is to guarantee payment of all taxes, fees, fines, and other moneys due under the Athletic Commission's statutes and rules — including reimbursement to ticket purchasers if an event is cancelled. The Commission sets the amount it deems adequate for a given event.

A promoter may apply one bond to multiple locations if only one covered location holds an event on any given date. Whatever amount the Commission requires, we issue it at a flat 3% with no credit check — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety.

Idaho Code 54-408 (State Athletic Commission)Under Title 54, Chapter 4 and the State Athletic Commission's rules (IDAPA 24.02.01), every promoter applying for a sanctioning permit must furnish a surety bond or other financial security consistent with Idaho Code 54-408, in an amount the Commission deems adequate to guarantee taxes, fees, fines, and other moneys due — including ticket-purchaser refunds. The amount is set by the Commission for each event.
