The City of Caldwell requires every private patrol service to file a $10,000 bond with the city before it issues a private patrol business license. Ours is $300 flat — 3% of the bond amount, with a $275 minimum that this bond clears — and the application takes five minutes.

License bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit check section, no follow-up scavenger hunt.
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your private patrol business license application or renewal at the Caldwell City Clerk. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$10,000 bond × 3% = $300, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
The City of Caldwell licenses private patrol services and conditions the license on a surety bond filed with the city. Under Caldwell City Code 06-21-15, the bond runs to the city in a sum not to exceed $10,000 for each private patrol service, conditioned on compliance with the article, the city's other ordinances, and Idaho law.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier standing behind you, and the City of Caldwell (the obligee), with the public protected. If a patrol business violates the private patrol ordinance or Idaho statute and someone is harmed, the harmed party can recover against the bond.
The bond must stay active for the life of your license. Let it lapse and the city can suspend or revoke your private patrol license — so we track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out, keeping your $10,000 filing continuous. The same code section also requires liability insurance at limits the council sets; the bond and the insurance are separate requirements.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
