About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the AT&T surety bond actually guarantees

A business applying for telecommunications services and/or facilities from AT&T Southeast can be asked to furnish security for the prompt payment of the charges AT&T bills. Rather than compel a cash deposit, AT&T Southeast will accept a surety bond on its own form (AT&T RF-2354) in the same amount instead.

It is a three-party arrangement: your business (the principal), the surety carrier, and AT&T Southeast (the obligee). If your account goes unpaid, AT&T Southeast can make written demand on the surety for the penal amount; the surety's liability is direct and primary, so AT&T does not first have to prove your business is unable to pay. If the surety pays a claim, your business repays the surety — the bond is not insurance for you.

Under AT&T's bond form, the term is indefinite and stays in force until the surety gives AT&T Southeast 30 days' written notice of cancellation; your business and the surety remain liable for any charges that accrued before that notice takes effect. Enter the penal amount your AT&T account representative set — we price the bond at 5% of that amount, $100 minimum, and the application collects no credit information.

AT&T Southeast — Surety Bond (Form RF-2354)AT&T Southeast requests a business account to furnish security for the prompt payment of billed telecommunications charges and will accept a surety bond, on its own form, in lieu of a cash deposit. The bond names AT&T Southeast as obligee in a penal amount AT&T sets for the account, runs for an indefinite term, and stays in force until the surety gives AT&T Southeast 30 days' written notice of cancellation. This is AT&T Southeast's own contractual security requirement, governed by Georgia law under the bond form — not a state statute mandating the bond itself. Confirm your required penal amount with your AT&T Southeast account representative.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much is the Georgia AT&T surety bond? The premium is priced by your bond amount, not a credit or underwriting tier — 5% of the bond amount, $100 minimum. The amount itself is the penal sum AT&T Southeast set for your account in place of a cash deposit. Your exact price appears in the on-page calculator.
What amount should I enter?Enter the penal amount AT&T Southeast asked your account to secure — it is printed on the deposit or security notice from your AT&T account representative. There is no single statutory figure; AT&T sets it per account.
What does the bond guarantee? It guarantees AT&T Southeast will be paid for billed telecommunications charges if your account goes unpaid. AT&T can make written demand on the surety for up to the penal amount; if the surety pays, your business repays the surety. It is not insurance for your business — it backs AT&T's payment.
Is there a credit check? The application collects no credit information. Most applications approve instantly; if a check ever runs on a larger bond amount, it is a soft pull that will not affect your score.
Do I pay the full bond amount? No. You pay the premium — 5% of the bond amount, $100 minimum — not the penal amount itself. The full penal sum is what the surety could be asked to pay AT&T Southeast if your account defaults; your out-of-pocket cost is the premium.
