What the wine manufacturer bond covers
Florida regulates alcohol through the Beverage Law (Chapters 561–568), administered by the DBPR Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. Manufacturers and distributors of alcoholic beverages — including wine manufacturers — must post a surety bond as a condition of their license under Fla. Stat. §§561.37 and 561.371.
The bond is filed on form ABT-6032 and guarantees that you pay all excise taxes due on the beverages you produce and comply with the Beverage Law. The required amount is set by the statute and your license tier; for a wine manufacturer it is commonly $5,000, but your DBPR requirement controls.
It is not insurance for you. No license issues without the bond. If the Division collects on the bond for unpaid beverage tax, you repay the surety. The premium is 1% of the bond amount, $100 minimum — priced by your bond amount, not a credit tier; at the standard amounts the application collects no credit information.
