Florida's athlete-agent law (Chapter 468, Part IX) historically required a $15,000 surety bond in favor of the State for the benefit of student athletes and Florida colleges or universities harmed by an agent. Per DBPR, the examination and $15,000 surety bond requirements for licensure became obsolete effective July 1, 2002. Current registration requires an application, fees, and a criminal background check — confirm any bond is genuinely required before purchasing.
