About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A paid solicitor is hired to solicit charitable contributions on behalf of a charity. Arkansas requires the solicitor to register with the Secretary of State and to file a $10,000 bond under Ark. Code Ann. § 4-28-407, as a financial backstop for the donations and charities it handles.

The bond runs to the Secretary of State and the Attorney General for the use of the state, and to any person — including a charitable organization — that has a cause of action against the solicitor for liabilities arising from conduct that violates the charitable-solicitation law. The surety's aggregate liability is capped at the $10,000 bond amount.

The bond must stay active for the life of your registration. A paid solicitor also files each solicitation contract with the Secretary of State at least fifteen days before a campaign begins. We track the bond and notify you 60 and 30 days out, keeping your $10,000 filing continuous.

Ark. Code Ann. § 4-28-407Under Arkansas Code § 4-28-407, an applicant for registration as a paid solicitor must file a $10,000 bond with one or more responsible sureties. The bond runs to the Secretary of State and the Attorney General for the use of the state and to any person (including a charitable organization) with a cause of action against the solicitor for liabilities from conduct violating the charitable-solicitation law; the surety's aggregate liability does not exceed the bond sum. Confirm the current amount on your registration.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the Arkansas paid solicitor bond? +
The premium is $300 — a flat 3% of the fixed $10,000 bond amount, the same for every solicitor. The $10,000 is set by statute, so there is no quote process.
Do I pay the $10,000? +
No. You pay $300. The $10,000 is the surety's aggregate maximum liability to the state and to harmed charities and donors — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
Who does the bond protect? +
It runs to the Secretary of State and the Attorney General for the state, and to any person or charitable organization with a cause of action against the solicitor for conduct that violates the charitable-solicitation law. The surety's total liability is capped at $10,000.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section at all. Small fixed-amount registration bonds like this one don't need one.
When does it renew? +
The bond must stay active for as long as you are registered as a paid solicitor. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year term; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available, so your registration never lapses over a missed email.
