What the bond actually guarantees
Alabama licenses alcohol sales through the state ABC Board, but a municipality must approve the license before the state issues it. The Town of Cleveland conditions that approval on a $10,000 surety bond standing behind the taxes and fees its alcohol ordinance imposes on licensees.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Town of Cleveland (the obligee). If you fail to remit the alcohol taxes or fees the Town's ordinance requires, the Town can recover against the bond up to $10,000.
