About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A special events bond is a public-protection guarantee. When the City of Mobile issues a permit for an event that uses public streets, parks, or rights-of-way, it wants a financial backstop that the organizer will clean up, repair any damage, and follow the permit's conditions.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier standing behind you, and the City of Mobile (the obligee). If the event damages public property or leaves costs the city has to cover, the city can recover against the bond.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Organizers who clean up and follow the permit terms treat the bond as a permit formality, not a risk.

City of Mobile special-event permitThe City of Mobile requires this $10,000 bond as a condition of its special-event permit; the bond amount and conditions are set by the City of Mobile permit office. We issue the exact form the city names — send us your permit packet and we'll match it.

You need this bond if you're

Organizing a Mobile event — a parade, festival, race, or street fair on public property
Closing a public street or using a park or right-of-way the city controls
A vendor or production company the city named as the permit holder
Running a recurring event that needs a bond on file each season

Five minutes. The whole thing.
