16.5 Road Manual Hazard Fuels Redux

The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, vehicles, materials, and incidentals to perform manual hazardous fuels reduction on a 101-acre unit. Work includes cutting and piling Gambel Oak stems over 24 inches high and less than 5 inches dbh, cutting and piling Service berry and mixed mountain shrub over 24 inches high (except sagebrush), cutting and piling Pinyon and Juniper stems under 5 inches dbh, limbing remaining juniper to 5 feet or one third of tree height, cutting and piling all standing and fallen dead trees and brush, cutting and piling all shrubs, oak, juniper and pinyon beneath and/or within 10 feet of the dripline of all Ponderosa Pine, and cutting stumps flush with the ground and less than 4 inches in height. Material to be hand-piled includes all cut material and existing slash between 1 inch and 24 inches in diameter and greater than 2 feet in length. Piles must be compact, with a maximum size of 8 feet in diameter by 8 feet in height and a minimum size of 6 feet in diameter by 5 feet in height. The contractor is also responsible for transportation, all personnel, equipment, fuels, lubricants, parts, repairs, and waxed paper or polyethylene plastic sheeting for covering piles.
