Sierra National Forest (SNF5) Roadrunner Fuels Reduction and Site Preparation.

The contractor must fell standing dead trees, thin surviving conifer saplings, and treat created and existing slash, brush, and remnant right-of-way material. Work includes felling, piling, mastication, thinning, and constructing fire lines. The contractor must leave 4 snags per acre and 5 large down logs per acre. Work is paid by the acre, measured via GPS or GIS. The project includes base units (810.7 acres) and optional units (311.3 acres plus 18 acres hand-work only). Equipment must meet slope and environmental specifications; hand work is required in designated areas. The contractor must comply with Limited Operating Periods for spotted owl (March 1 – August 15) and fisher (March 1 – June 30 for mechanical treatment).
