The Government requires the purchase of two commercial flail mowers: (1) a 20-foot flail mower that retracts hydraulically to a 94-inch transport width, configured as a trailed, triple-mower unit requiring 80-150 HP and a 1000 RPM rear PTO, capable of mulching grass and prunings up to 2 inches in diameter; and (2) a smaller, low-profile side-shift flail mower with a 1000 RPM gearbox, designed for under-canopy orchard mowing, requiring 100-150 HP, capable of mulching grass and prunings up to 3.5 inches in diameter. Both units must be operable with the Government's John Deere 6145M tractor. Delivery is to the USDA ARS facility at 21 Dunbar Rd., Byron, GA 31008.
