The purpose of this contract is to have frequent mowing, weeding, and general lawn maintenance year-round at the
Institute of Pacific Island Forestry Laboratory.
In the past the Institute of Pacific Island Forestry had a full-time maintenance work that did the mowing, and general
grounds cleanup, but the position is currently is vacant. There was also a landscape company that did the general lawn
maintenance, but the contract expired was not renewed.
When proposals are similar in technical capability and price, contractors local to Hawaii that submit a proposal, receive preference.

All questions are due in writing no later than 1000 Pacific on 15 September 2026.
The contractor shall perform mowing of lawns around the lab buildings every two weeks, pruning bushes around the parking lot and buildings as needed, weed whacking areas that cannot be mowed and around sidewalks, mulching the lawn on a regular basis, removing weeds on a regular basis, and keeping sidewalks and parking areas clean after mowing and trimming using a blower. The contractor may use pre-approved bio-based chemicals for weed control with a minimum biobased content of 25%. The existing sprinkler system will not be maintained. Deliverables include mowing/trimming/blowing done two times per month and a bi-weekly status report due every Friday by 3:00 PM EDST.
