A NPS shuttle will either transport and/or lead a limited number of vehicles from the Trailhead Parking Lot to the site. Any contractors that arrive late, and miss the shuttle departure, will have to make the 2-mile hike on their own. They will NOT be allowed to drive to the site location on the trail leading to the Staple Bend Tunnel on their own once shuttle has departed.
The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, tools, supplies, transportation, personal protection equipment, and support equipment for the stabilization of the Staple Bend Tunnel. Base item work includes: a Stabilization Maintenance Plan (inspect tunnel walls and rock bolts); Scaling (remove loose rock); Fossil Inventory (paleontologist inspection); Rock Bolt Anchors (install rock bolts); Void Fill Concrete (inject concrete into voids); Gunite (install wire mesh and shotcrete); Drainage (install French drains and strip drains); and Signposts (construct/install signs). Optional items include a 3D Scan and Bat Houses. The period of performance is 190 days after issuance of full Notice to Proceed.
