The City of Fredericksburg requests assistance from a qualified and knowledgeable contractor to perform professional conservation, preservation, and restoration services for the General Hugh Mercer monument (bronze statue and stone base). The goal is to stabilize the materials, halt active deterioration, remove disfiguring corrosion and biological growth, and restore the visual integrity of the monument in accordance with the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) guidelines and the Secretary of the Interiorâs Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
