The intent of this specification is to describe the assembly of a SDDOT paint supply truck and the attached equipment needed to be installed for painting operations. The truck shall be fully operational when delivered to the SDDOT location and ready to be put into service. The Vendor shall be responsible for the mounting of all equipment and materials needed to mount the equipment and no additional cost to SDDOT.
The turnkey package includes a flatbed, hydraulic system, crash attenuator, broom, and message board installed on SDDOT provided tandem axle truck chassis. It is relevant that the unit meets the requirements to operate in the all-weather conditions experienced while performing jobs from the South Dakota state highway system.
Installation: The attached equipment shall be installed according to the manufacturer’s instruction and to the acceptance/approval of the SDDOT. The hydraulic hoses shall be routed in a way so that they are secure and protected from any damage. All hydraulic hoses shall be flat-face quick-coupler, including the return lines on removable equipment. All hardware mounted to the equipment shall be stainless steel or other non-corrosive material and approved by the SDDOT.
Truck Chassis for equipment to be mounted on will be a 2026 Freightliner 114SD Plus tandem axle truck and will be provided by SDDOT.
There will be 1 truck that shall have the following equipment attached: Flatbed, Message Board, Attenuator, Broom. - FOB Aberdeen

The vendor must mount all equipment and materials on a SDDOT-provided 2026 Freightliner 114SD Plus tandem axle truck chassis to create a fully operational paint supply truck. The turnkey package includes a flatbed (apitong hardwood flooring, 96" wide, 24-24.5 ft length, school bus yellow finish), a hydraulically driven angled rotary broom (32" diameter, 96" wide, 250 RPM, with Monroe MC6000 quick hitch), a truck-mounted attenuator (MASH tested, FHWA eligible, DOT approved, TL-3 up to 62 mph, folding vertical under 13 ft, with hydraulic power unit and cab control), and a message board (12" character height, 8 characters wide, 3-line full matrix, amber LEDs, mounted on rear of flatbed). The hydraulic system includes a front crankshaft mounted pump (Force America FASD60 or equal), modular manifold valve, 30-gallon reservoir, and a control center with multi-stick PWM driver. All hardware must be stainless steel or non-corrosive. The vendor must deliver the truck within 120 days of receiving the chassis, provide bi-weekly progress reports, and include electronic manuals and operator manuals.
