The South Carolina Office of Resilience is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to gather information from insurance providers on a Parametric Insurance Policy covering hurricane, flood, storm surge, earthquake, and drought hazards for the state.
The working group seeks responses from private insurance carriers with experience developing and underwriting parametric insurance policies, ideally at a state or regional level. Respondents are asked to provide estimated annual premiums for policy limits of $50,000,000, $100,000,000, and $200,000,000 for each hazard, propose tiered percentage payout structures based on defined trigger thresholds, and may suggest alternative triggers, parameters, or payout structures. The information will be used to develop a briefing memorandum for the South Carolina General Assembly.
