The City of San Antonio, Animal Care Services (ACS) Department is soliciting applications from partners to provide veterinary services at ACS Facilities. These services will include routine sterilization surgeries for pets of City of San Antonio residents and ACS pets, as well as non-routine sterilization surgeries, such as cryptorchid, pyometra, in-heat, gravid, and hernias. Additionally, veterinary partners will provide wellness services, such as pet examinations, vaccinations, microchipping, and minor medical care related to the surgery.

The contractor will perform spay/neuter surgeries, including establishing a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship, physical exams, evaluating anesthetic risk, performing a minimum of 10 surgeries per shift, handling intra-operative complications, providing post-operative care, and maintaining a complication rate of less than 1%. They will also provide veterinary medicine duties such as medical examinations, vaccinations, microchipping, emergency surgeries, euthanasia, and parasite treatment. The contractor must maintain medical records, adhere to Department policies on controlled substances, and invoice the City monthly.
