This is a joint research project with ODOT/OSU/PSU.

The contractor will advance at least three and up to six SCPTu soundings at the Wickiup Junction site (US Route 97, Milepost 165.7) to an approximate depth of 250 feet, with total penetration footage estimated at 750 to 1500 feet. Work includes downhole shear wave velocity measurements at intervals of no more than 2.5 feet, pore water pressure dissipation tests (approximately four per sounding), and variable rate cone penetration tests. The contractor must furnish all equipment, materials, and supplies, including a cone penetrometer capable of measuring pore pressures up to 500 psi. Soundings must be performed and abandoned in accordance with Oregon Water Resources Department rules. The contractor must provide a full text and graphical report with electronic data within 14 days after completion of the last sounding. No work is permitted from November 18, 2026 through March 30, 2027 due to winter weather. The contractor must maintain a minimum distance of 50 feet from railroad tracks at all times and must not cross tracks.
