Work in the CUNY Brooklyn College Campus – 4 Buildings: Heating Plant Fire Pump Replacement and Standpipe Extensions for West End Building, Heat & Chiller Plant, Ingersoll Hall and La Guardia Hall Contract include, but is not limited to, the following:

• This project involves the replacement of an existing incoming service and existing Fire Pump and Jockey Pump at Heat Plant location, together with associated piping, valves, accessories and controls, the pumps concrete pad and electrical conduits, wiring associated electrical equipment.

• Project involves connecting new Fire Pump and Jockey pump to the buildings existing Main Service Switch panels by providing two new Con Edison approved Trans ‘S’ meter/switch combination to serve as the Fire Pump service switches with wires and conduits.

• Project involves connecting new Fire Pump and Jockey pump and new Tamper Switches to the existing Fire Alarm system

• Project involves extension of standpipes on various locations and installing manifolds on each location as listed below:

• Ingersoll Hall: Extension of existing standpipe riser and provision of new FHV stations and 3-way manifolds, total of four (4) FHV stations and two (2) 3-way manifolds;

• Heating Plant: Provision of new 3-way manifolds, total one (1) 3-way manifold;

• La Guardia Hall Library: Extension of existing standpipe riser and provision of new FHV stations and 3-way manifolds, total one (1) FHV station and one (1) 3-way manifold.

• WEB Building: Provision of 3-way manifold, roof access hatch and ladder, total of one (1) 3-way manifold, one (1) roof access hatch, one (1) ladder.

The estimated construction cost range is between $2,895,549 and $3,200,343.

The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (“DASNY”) has determined that its interest in obtaining the best work at the lowest possible price, preventing favoritism, fraud and corruption, and other considerations such as the impact of delay, the possibility of cost savings advantages and any local history of labor unrest are best met by use of a Project Labor Agreement (“PLA”) on this Project. The successful low bidder, as a condition of being awarded this Contract, will be required to execute the PLA described in the Information for Bidders and included in the Contract Documents. See Section 18.0 of the Information for Bidders of the Contract Documents for additional information. All subcontractors of every tier will be required to agree to be bound by the PLA.

The bidder or its principals shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience in similar work and shall provide to the Owner on the Minimum Qualifications Form a list of five (5) contracts of similar size, scope, and complexity to this Project completed or substantially completed within the last ten (10) years. Projects with complex technical specification sections may require additional experience in terms of both time as well as number of similarly completed projects.
