The contract covers the purchase and pick-up or delivery of soil products as specified. Topsoil must be friable surface soil reasonably free of foreign materials, with specific particle composition. Soil Mix is a blend of 50% cleaned screened top soil amended with Z-Best organic compost. Planter Box Mix is composed of soil mix with additional high-end amendments. Delivery can be via plant pick-up (where Public Works trucks pick up the soil) or vendor delivery to fixed bunkers in Road Maintenance Division locations and Parks & Recreation locations. Freight charges are calculated based on one-way mileage. The vendor must allow a minimum of 60 minutes for off-loading at no cost to the County. Bidders must submit unit prices for Topsoil, Soil Mix, Planter Box Mix, and Freight per mile.
