Groundskeeping Services
The contractor is to provide complete groundskeeping services, labor, supervision, equipment, tools, transportation, materials, quality control, and incidentals necessary to maintain the grounds of the Durham VA Medical Center in a safe, clean, professional, and acceptable condition consistent with VA standards. The approximate size of the facility is 18 acres. Services include turf maintenance, mowing, weed eating (every 2 weeks), organic weed control, shrub and hedge trimming (twice a year), tree maintenance (as directed), yearly mulching, seasonal planting, leaf removal (as needed), daily debris and litter removal (trash pickup and emptying trash cans in garage B and VA parking lots), storm cleanup (tornado, hurricane, snow removal, ice melt, scraping), quarterly fertilization, maintenance of planting beds, and sidewalk and curb edging (once a month).
