The contractor must provide a regional or global class research vessel capable of launching ROV Jason operated by the National Deep Submergence Facility (NDSF) or similar to support the re-occupation and re-battery of an existing seafloor geodetic benchmark at ~3100 meters water depth offshore northern California and the Cascadia subduction zone. The operations are an add-on to currently funded NSF cruises led by Scripps Institute of Oceanography, scheduled for calendar year 2027. The vessel must be the R/V Revelle or similar, with a heavy-lift overboard handling system, dedicated Jason control van, data center for real-time video/sonar/sensor data, and dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depth >3,000 meters.
