Wyoming Statutes § 40-23-110, part of the Wyoming Residential Mortgage Practices Act, requires a licensee to maintain a surety bond issued by a surety authorized to do business in Wyoming, used to cover the individual loan originators it employs or contracts with; if a licensee or a sponsored originator violates the Act, a rule adopted under it, or federal mortgage lending law and damages a person, the bond is forfeited and paid to the State of Wyoming for that person's benefit, up to the full bond amount. The Wyoming Division of Banking's own licensing-and-renewal guidance lists an Exempt Registration on the same NMLS renewal cycle — November 1 through December 31 each year — as a Mortgage Lender/Broker or Broker License, and requires the bond and registration to be filed through the NMLS.
