About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the $3,000 tier covers

Oregon licenses landscaping businesses through its dedicated Landscape Contractors Board (LCB), and conditions the license on a surety bond under ORS 671.690. The $3,000 amount is the standard tier the statute names for most applicants.

The bond guarantees you complete work properly and meet your payment obligations under ORS Chapter 671. If you fail to perform or pay as the law requires, an injured owner or worker can recover against the bond up to the $3,000 penal sum.

If your job sizes grow or you do certain non-landscaping hardscape work, the LCB may require a higher tier — $10,000, $15,000, or up to $20,000. If you’re unsure which applies, send us your LCB application and we’ll confirm before issuing.

ORS 671.690 (Landscape Contractors Board — standard tier)Under ORS 671.690, a landscape contracting business licensed by the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board must file a surety bond; the statute names $3,000 for a standard applicant, with higher tiers ($10,000, $15,000, up to $20,000) for larger jobs, certain non-landscaping hardscape work, or probationary status. Confirm your tier on your LCB application.

You need this bond if you're

A standard-tier LCB applicant — most new landscape contracting businesses
Renewing at the $3,000 tier and your current bond is expiring or non-renewing
A smaller landscaping business whose job sizes keep you in the standard tier
Re-licensing after a lapse that requires a fresh $3,000 bond on file

Five minutes. The whole thing.

These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the $3,000 landscape bond? +
The premium is $275 — our minimum. The bond amount is $3,000 (the standard LCB tier), and 3% of that ($90) falls under the minimum, so every standard-tier applicant pays $275.
Is $3,000 the right amount for me? +
The $3,000 tier covers most standard applicants under ORS 671.690. If you do larger jobs or certain non-landscaping hardscape work, the LCB may require $10,000, $15,000, or up to $20,000 instead. Confirm the figure on your LCB application.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section at all. The $3,000 landscape bond issues without a credit pull.
Is this the CCB or a separate board? +
It is the Landscape Contractors Board (LCB), a dedicated Oregon board separate from the Construction Contractors Board. Landscaping businesses are licensed under ORS Chapter 671.
When does it renew? +
Terms run 1, 2, or 3 years. The bond must stay on file with the LCB for your license to stay valid; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available.
